Bandipur Tiger Reserve, on the Bangalore-Mysore-Ooty route, is one of South India's best-known wildlife destinations for jeep and bus safaris spotting elephants, deer and (with some luck) tigers. It's often combined with Mysore or as a stop en route to Ooty.
